Dive Watches

What is a Divers Watch?

A divers watch is designed to be used at extreme depths and conditions, to classify as dive watches they should have one of three water ratings marked: 200M, 20BAR or 20ATM. Any watch that is rated for less then 200M may be able to be used in water provided that it is designed in a particular way.

A few key features to look for in dive watches are a screw-down locking crown and a screw on back. These are the key features for keeping water out of the watch. Some watches will say they are rated for 100M, 10BAR or 10ATM. These watches are not designed for water unless they have the screw-down crown and screw on back. Many different brands will claim a watch is water resistant, but it will leak the first time it is used in water without these features.

At The Halifax Watch Company, when you ask for a watch that you can use in the water, we will show you the appropriate watches. We know the quality construction required to be used as a functional dive watch, not just what the brand says it is good for. If we sell you a watch for the water, you can trust that it will be water resistant to the standard you are looking for.
